June 2017 Around Town

It’s not too late to be
summer ready!

In 2009, Medi Weightloss of South Fort Worth opened its doors, and I became patient number one. There really was something different about this program, and it worked. I was able to lose almost 30 pounds, three shy of my goal weight. For me, weight loss has been a lifelong struggle. After almost reaching my goal, I allowed myself to slip into my habits. And I gained it all back.

Along the way, the staff of Medi never gave up on me. Between 2010 and 2016, I restarted a couple of times. Then one day, it clicked. I was 51, 30+ pounds overweight, and borderline diabetic. I wanted to live to meet my grandchildren. I was ready to do this. On September 19, 2016, patient #1 walked back in the doors of Medi. On January 2, 2017, I reached my goal weight of 125.

Every weight loss program promises to be the one. But Medi Weightloss is the one that works. What have I learned on my journey to health? You have the power to do and be everything you dream of, especially when you have the tools and support of people like the ones I found at Medi

Father’s Day Fun

Since it opened in 1952, Fort Worth Billiards has continually provided happy Father’s Days. This holiday, visitors on a quest for the perfect gift will find a store with much more than pool tables. Fort Worth Billiards stocks everything a dad could want to outfit a recreation room or home bar. They also have a top-notch staff that will not rest until the right gift is found.

“Customer service is truly the key to our success,” says Albert Trujillo, president of Fort Worth Billiards. “Our team of employees are among the most experienced in the business.”

Though Fort Worth Billiards’s sales team can help any son or daughter navigate the store’s vast array of products, the service hardly ends with the sale.

“Once you’ve picked your game room items, service is the next step in our customer satisfaction process,” says Albert. “Our installation crews have decades of combined experience.”

The shop can even work with customers on the design of game rooms. Simply tell them what you think dad would want, and Fort Worth Billiards will get you gaming in no time.

“Every customer has their own unique situation,” says Albert. “With 65 years of customer satisfaction, we can help anyone achieve their game room goals.”

Rockin’ the River has
a whole new atti-TUBE!

Rockin’ the River is back and ready to ramp up your summer! The popular music and tubing series, in its seventh year, is back at Panther Island Pavilion and is making the switch from an extended happy hour on Thursday to an all-day Saturday party. With five bands and a fireworks show each week, it will be a fist-full of festivals live on the Trinity River that can be enjoyed from a tube or the shaded shore. “We listened to our fantastic fans – they now get to rock the river on the weekend,” said Trinity River Vision Authority Executive Director, J.D. Granger.

Each week, the gates will open at 1:00pm with five different bands playing back-to-back sets beginning around 2:15pm on the Coors Light Waterfront Stage. After the headlining band finishes at 8:15pm, we will clear the water and bring the party to the shore with the fifth and final band playing until 9:15pm on the Pacifico Stage. In addition to live music on two stages; food and beverage options will be available for purchase, as well as tube and watersport rentals. Rain or shine, we rock the river. In the event of inclement weather, the party does not stop. We simply move the fun over to The Shack. Nightcap? You bet. Each event ends with a fireworks show right on the banks of the Trinity River.

Thirty bands over the six-week music series will perform at Rockin’ the River, including top Texas Country artists and, new this year, a little rock and soul sprinkled in the mix each week. Kicking off the festival series on July 1 is headliner Zane Williams. Other acts throughout the summer include Prophets and Outlaws, Shane Smith and the Saints, Zac Wilkerson and more. Check out the full band line-up and other details on our website at: rockintheriverfw.com.

Rockin’ the River is presented by Andrews Distributing Company and Coors Light. It is generously sponsored by North Texas Marine, Backwoods Fort Worth, Margaritaville, 95.9 The Ranch and produced by the Trinity River Vision Authority.
